Ballet

JTS offers an award winning Ballet class for ages walking to 5yrs old. Ballet and Boogie offers the basics of ballet with a lot of boogie. These classes are energetic and fun for the parent/caregiver and child. Our classes are run by teachers who offer a positive environment to encourage all children and build their confidence. We help them gain a love of dance and music in a perfect way to introduce young children to swirling and twirling. They learn good toes and naughty toes, the basic position such as first position (smiley feet), second position (big smiles), plies and tendus.

This program supports the young dancer’s early foundational years of physical development. It teaches them how to listen and co-ordinate , and use self expression whilst building their confidence. With the use of props, fun music and some special Jittabugs songs.

Ballet for our Minis (ages 4-9yrs)

This offers all of the above but with these classes you will learn to move gracefully, stretch, skip, gallop, jump and leap like a ballet dancer, while also pretending to be different animals or characters, which is a big elelement in ballet classes.

Ballet for our Juniors and Seniors (ages 8-18yrs)

In our ballet class  we start with a warm up and barre work for our foundation steps such as pliesand tendus . The class then progresses to centre work for more complex dance steps such as petit and grande allegro. Some adage and graceful port de bras and the art of pirouettes and balance. Ballet is an amazing discipline for balance, control, poise, co-ordination and strength using technique and dance quality.

Modern/Jazz Dance

A modern class has a blend of ballet, jazz and contemporary styles using strength, expression and flexibility. We always do a warm up and then work through technical exercises developing a strong core control and musicality . This style of dance is often shown in musicals such as Cats.

The children will learn steps such as skips, gallops, step ball change, turns, leaps, travelling steps, kicks and floor work.
